The huge art collection Doria Pamphilj is housed in the Palazzo Doria Pamphilj in Rome. It’s located between the Via della Gatta and the Via del Corso. Like the palace, it is still privately owned by the princely Roman family Doria Pamphilij.
Great collection of statuary, furniture and paintings has been composed by Doria, Pamphilj, Landi and Aldobrandini families since the 16th century. And now united and descent under the surname Doria Pamphilj.
The collection includes paintings and furnishings from the Innocent X's Palazzo Pamphilj. The aristocratic family’s palace offers masterpieces by Titian, Raphael and Velázquez.
The general collection of the gallery is displayed in state rooms. It includes the chapel, with the mummified corpse of the family saint. There are displaying series of four gilded and painted galleries surrounding a courtyard.
The further rooms are converted to permanent well-lit galleries and offer the collection of the more medieval and Byzantine art.
The portrait of Innocent X by Velazquez is considered the collection's masterpiece. This portrait is located in a specially designed little room along amplified with a sculptured bust of the same pope by Bernini.
All of the paintings of the gallery are the part of the private collection of the Doria Pamphilj family and reproduction is prohibited. The admission is 9 euros and for students, groups and persons over 65 it’s 7 euro.
The Galleria Doria Pamphilj offers to the guests guided visits out of hours on appointment, interactive audioguide in Italian, English and French included in the price of the ticketbookshop and souvenirs and cosy caffeteria on the ground floor of the Palace.
